Our Story
2012 | Born in Al-Hamah
Iradaty started as a working team in 2012 in response to the Syrian crisis, initially providing relief services and care for orphans, widows, and people with special needs in Damascus and its countryside. In late 2014, the organization officially adopted its name with the opening of the “Iradaty Center for the Rehabilitation of People with Special Needs,” which served about 350 beneficiaries and provided physical therapy sessions, medications, and mobility assistance.
2016 | Forced Displacement & Rebirth
At the end of 2016, forced displacement scattered our team across northwestern Syria, Turkey, and Lebanon. Their Response? 4 x Iradatys!
The team’s resilience was able to turn this tragic event into a “new birth” for Iradaty in 4 different locations (Lebanon, Bursa, Istanbul, Idlib). We launched emergency responses in Idlib, community integration activities in Bursa, continued to serve people with special needs in Istanbul, and launched schools in Beirut and Atmeh.
2017-2024 | Relentless Growth
During this period, we expanded beyond emergency relief to sustainable development.
-
Our schools in Idlib served +5,000 students including around 750 orphans.
-
Our mobile clinics in Atmeh evolved into comprehensive clinics with specialized services.
-
Our Istanbul team was elevated with new expertise, techniques and training and served a wider range of mental and physical disabilities.
-
The Bursa community center boomed as a community hub, running with 50 volunteers.
2025 | Back to Free Syria!
The most difficult decision after leaving Syria, was returning to Syria!
After the liberation of Syria in late 2024, we consulted with our teams and communities and found that the crucial move for Iradaty was to reunite all these efforts in Syria, where it all began, to contribute to the critical rebuilding of future Syria.
This marked a new era for Iradaty’s partnerships, teams and ways of work.
